New Brighton Pier
What an opportunity to experience some offshore fishing while standing on the New Brighton Pier! With cutting and washing boards provided on the Pier, you maybe lucky enough to catch one of the many varieties of fish that include Mullet, Kahawai, Red Cod and Dog Fish.
There is plenty for the whole family to take part in while visiting the Pier in New Brighton. The family can choose to take a swim in the sea, or build a sand castle on the beach or the kids can even have a splash in the paddling pool.
There are some spectacular views offered from the Pier, views include Pegasus Bay, Kaikoura Mountain Peaks and the southern ocean waves!
The original Pier was demolished in 1964, 70 years after it was first built in 1984. Then in 1997 the existing Pier was officially opened.
The Pier today is 300 metres in length, 7 metres above high tide and 6
metres wide.
